Vintage Virca Swiss Art Deco wristwatch from the 1930s with rectangular case, two-tone dial and 15-jewel manual movement. A really cute ladies watch and a bargain!

  • This charming Virca wristwatch dates to the late 1930s–early 1940s and is a fine example of classic Swiss Art Deco design. Housed in a rectangular tank-style case, the watch features elegant proportions typical of the inter-war period, with fixed bar lugs and a stainless steel caseback stamped “Fond Acier Inoxydable.”

The standout two-tone dial has a warm salmon/peach centre contrasted by a darker outer track, with bold Arabic numerals in a strong Deco font and a chemin-de-fer minute scale. The dial is signed Virca and marked Swiss Made at 6 o’clock, with attractive ageing that adds to its period character.

Inside is a Swiss manual-wind movement with 15 jewels, confirming a proper lever escapement and placing this well above entry-level watches of the era. The movement is cleanly laid out, with ruby jewels clearly visible and an A/R regulator, reflecting solid mid-grade Swiss quality intended for long-term reliability.

While Virca is a lesser-known brand today, watches like this were sold through jewellers and department stores and represent excellent value for collectors seeking authentic pre-war design. A stylish, honest vintage piece with real presence despite its modest size.
