Vintage Tissot Gold Plated Manual Wind Wristwatch c.1950s
Tissot featuring a warm silver dial with gilt Arabic numerals and baton hands, 17-jewel Swiss movement (serial 1501897), stainless steel case back stamped "Fond Acier Inoxydable / Fab. Suisse / Swiss Made," presented on a brown leather strap.
A thoroughly charming mid-century dress watch from one of Switzerland's most respected houses, this Tissot from the 1950s represents the brand at its elegant best — understated, beautifully proportioned, and driven by proper Swiss mechanical craft.
The dial is a warm silver with gilt Arabic numerals at the even hours and applied gilt dot indices at the odd positions, all complemented by slender sword-style hands in matching gold tone. The Tissot script signature sits neatly at 12 o'clock in the period style, and the overall presentation remains clean and legible despite its age.
Inside sits a 17-jewel manual wind movement — visible through what appears to be a later exhibition case back addition — signed "Tissot Swiss, Seventeen Jewels, Unadjusted" with movement serial 1425062. The plates are finished in warm rose gold tone, lending the movement a real sense of quality and period character. The outer case back is stamped "Fond Acier Inoxydable" (stainless steel back) with the Tissot shield logo and case serial 1501897, confirming Swiss manufacture.
The gold plated case shows honest age-related wear to the edges and case back, which is entirely consistent with a piece of this vintage and lends it genuine character. Presented on a brown leather strap.
A lovely example of post-war Swiss watchmaking at its most wearable — the kind of watch that rewards the collector who appreciates heritage, hand-wound simplicity, and refined mid-century design.
