Pierpont Triple Date Calendar — Switzerland, c.1950s
Here is a watch that does far more than simply tell the time. This rare Swiss-made Pierpont displays the full calendar — day, date, and month — all at a glance, a complication that even many luxury watches of the era didn't offer. The month (currently reading May) appears in a bold red aperture window at 12 o'clock, the day cycles around the outer ring, and a elegantly slender central hand sweeps the date scale — a clever, almost architectural arrangement that rewards a second look.
The gold-plated case houses a manual-wind Swiss movement, freshly serviced in April 2026 and running well. The caseback is stainless steel, stamped Fond Acier Inoxydable, with reference numbers 11258 and 161929. Open it up and you're rewarded with the movement itself — jewelled, gilded, and ticking with the quiet confidence of seven decades of Swiss engineering.
The dial carries the honest patina of age — some foxing and wear that no restoration has touched. For collectors who value originality over cosmetic perfection, this is exactly as it should be. The word Brevet printed at the top confirms the calendar mechanism was patented; Swiss Made is noted at 6 o'clock beneath the seconds sub-dial.
A genuinely rare piece from a respected Swiss house that didn't survive the quartz revolution — which is precisely why examples like this are worth preserving.
