The Sun and Moon by Mr Jones Watches is a modern revival of one of the oldest watch complications in existence. Inspired by astronomical timepieces made in England in the 17th century, this London-designed watch reimagines how we read time — replacing conventional hands with the movement of the sun and moon across a beautifully illustrated day-and-night landscape.
The crescent shape on the dial represents 12 hours, with time running from left to right. At 6am the sun rises on the left, reaches the middle of the crescent at midday, then continues until it sets at 6pm. After 6pm the moon rises on the left, marking the night hours through until 6am. The inner dial displays the minutes in the traditional manner, keeping things practical alongside the poetic. The result is a watch that genuinely stops people in their tracks — and makes you look at the time in a completely new way.
The dial features a richly illustrated landscape that transitions from a bright daytime scene with birds in flight to a moonlit night sky scattered with stars — a small piece of wearable art on your wrist.
