Enicar Sherpa 300 Seapearl
A watch made famous after being used by Everest expeditions in the 1950s this vintage Enicar Sherpa 300 Seapearl, a timepiece that represents the "golden era" of Swiss watchmaking from the 1960s.
The watch features a stunning champagne/gold sunburst dial that appears to be in excellent condition. It has applied gold-tone hour markers and a matching handset with a slim "sweeping" seconds hand.
The case is a gold-plated (or gold-capped) case with a stainless steel caseback. The lugs have a sharp, faceted design that was characteristic of high-end dress watches of that period. Again, this was from my own collection as i think it looks great and I liked the retro class of the gold. This is a "Bayonet" style caseback, a signature Enicar design that required a specific tool to open. It was meant to provide a tighter seal than a standard screw-down back
It has a domed acrylic crystal, which gives the watch a warm, vintage feel and magnifies the dial slightly at different angles.
The engravings on the caseback remain very crisp, which is a great sign that the watch hasn't been over-polished. The "Sherpa 300" and "Seapearl" scripts are distinct and clear.
